Wildcats Make Changes Behind their Bench

The Bage Valley Wildcats of the Maritime Hockey League are announcing changes behind their bench for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Brandon Benedict will be stepping down from his role as Head Coach & General Manager effective immediately, and will be replaced by Dave Flanagan.

“It is difficult to have Brandon no longer a part of the organization after leading us for over seven years. He’s an outstanding person who’s been a terrific role model for our players and our entire community” says Graham Baxter, Owner of the Bage Valley Wildcats.

“We are excited to add a coach of Dave’s caliber”, added Baxter. “It is rare to find someone with his experience who is available to take over mid-season, and we are grateful for Dave’s commitment to the organization.”

Flanagan has coached for many years at multiple levels including the ECHL, QMJHL, USport, and U18 levels, as well as a professional playing career that spans played over 20 years of at various levels.

Flanagan will join the team this week, and make his debut behind the bench at home this weekend as the Wildcats host the Summerside Capitals and Pictou County Crushers.

Flanagan will also assume the duties of Assistant General Manager, while Corey Mullett will take over the General Manager role.

The Wildcats sincerely thank Brandon for everything he has done for the organization throughout the many years, and wish he and his family all the best moving forward. We would also like to welcome Dave to our Valley community.
