Valley Junior A Wildcats alumni continue hockey careers in U Sports

The Maritime Hockey League is well-represented at Canadian
Universities. 94 former MHL players are enrolled at universities across
Canada and playing U Sports hockey. This list includes six former Valley
Junior A Wildcats.
Forward Colby Tower and defenceman Erik Campbell are both in their
second year at Nipissing University in Ontario. In the Wildcats first
Junior A season, Tower and Campbell scored two of the team’s most iconic
goals in the Kentville Centennial Arena. Campbell scored a spin-o-rama
shootout winner against Dieppe, while Tower scored the double-overtime
winner against Yarmouth as Valley won their first-ever playoff series.
The winning goalie in that game, and 2014 MHL Rookie of the Year, Blade
Mann-Dixon, is now in his second year with St. FX University in
Antigonish. Mark Grametbauer, who made his Junior debut as an AP with
the Wildcats that same season, is in his first year with Carleton
University. Grametbauer made just one start for Valley before a QMJHL
career which included stops with five clubs.
John Deacon is in his fourth year at the University of Ottawa, while
Nick Gibson is in his third year with Royal Military College. Deacon was
a dynamic scoring force for Valley during the club’s most successful
seasons. Gibson played on those same teams, serving as Wildcats captain
in 2016/2017.
