Former Wildcats Goalie Makes Halifax Mooseheads Roster
Cole McLaren Spent Last Season with Valley and Makes Jump To QMJHL
BERWICK, NOVA SCOTIA – The Valley Wildcats, proud member of the Maritime Hockey League, take great pleasure in congratulating alumnus Cole McLaren for making the roster of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s (QMJHL) Halifax Mooseheads.
The Annapolis Royal native was the starting goaltender for the Wildcats last season, posting a 3.53 goals-against average and .910 save percentage in 37 games. For his efforts, McLaren was named to the MJHL rookie all-star team. He also saw action in one game with the Mooseheads. McLaren was developed in the Wildcats system, spending the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons with the Wildcats major midget team.
“As much as we’ll miss Cole, we are thrilled to see him move up the hockey ladder and proud to have played a role in his development,” said Wildcats G.M. Nick Greenough. “Cole is a role model for (Annapolis) Valley kids by showing them you can chase your dreams of playing hockey at an elite level while playing right here at home.”
The Mooseheads will host the Memorial Cup this season and are guaranteed a place in the tournament, making McLaren’s achievement even more impressive.
